At INDEX 26, Magic is presenting an industrial process that connects the production of compostable absorbent raw materials to the development of airlaid structures for hygiene, medical and technical applications. This vertically integrated approach allows Magic to work on absorbency from the raw material stage through to final airlaid structure, keeping formulation, process and performance development closely connected.
Spongel, Magic’s patented superabsorbent compostable powder, and Airgel g-grade compostable absorbent airalid materials are designed for applications requiring constant absorption over time. Both materials are OK Compost Industrial Certified.
Magic will also offer a preview of PulpForm, a compostable airlaid developed for dry molding processes. Designed to shaped into three-dimensional structured packaging, PulpForm is creating a new application for airlaid materials beyond absorbent materials.
“Index is an important opportunity to show not only what our materials do, but how they are made possible, says Mauro Giani, CEO. “The performance of an absorbent material is built before the final product takes shape. It depends on the control of raw materials, process choices and the way each stage of development is connected to the next.
“Customers are not simply looking for absorbency in abstract terms, they need materials that can be understood inside the real conditions of use: how they absorb, how they retain, how they behave within a product structure. Having internal expertise on absorbent raw materials allows us to work with customers earlier and more closely in the development process.”
