Nobel Hygiene Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 2000 by Kamal Kumar Johari, with the vision of building a leading Indian manufacturing company in the absorbent hygiene segment. At a time when the adult incontinence category was virtually non-existent in India, Nobel Hygiene was the first to introduce adult diapers in the country.

Since then, Nobel Hygiene has consistently invested in advanced manufacturing technologies, research and development, consumer insights and capacity expansions to support the growing hygiene market in India. Its flagship brand, Friends Adult Diapers, is both the category creator and leader in India’s adult incontinence market, holding nearly a 45% share, according to 2025 Euromonitor data. In the baby care segment, its Teddyy brand has emerged as a leading Indian brand, with an estimated 6.5% market share.

The company operates 14 production lines across its state-of-the-art facilities in Nashik, Maharashtra and Baroda, Gujarat, featuring high-speed manufacturing systems that meet global quality and hygiene standards. Its focus on manufacturing excellence is supported by international certifications, including ISO, CE, US-FDA and WHO-GMP.

“Through continuous investment in innovation, infrastructure and product development, we have grown into one of India’s leading hygiene product manufacturers,” says Kamal Kumar Johari, managing director.

Today, Nobel Hygiene offers one of the most diversified absorbent hygiene portfolios in India. In the adult care segment, Friends Adult Diapers offers a wide range of solutions, including tape-style diapers, pull-up pants, maternity pads, insert pads and bed protection sheets designed for varying levels of incontinence care. The company also offers RIO sanitary pads in the feminine hygiene segment, further strengthening its presence across essential hygiene categories.

In baby care, the Teddyy Baby Diapers range includes tape-style and pants-style diapers, along with complementary products such as diaper changing mats, nappy pads and baby wet wipes, all designed for comfort, breathability and reliable protection.

In February, Nobel Hygiene introduced Teddyy Bio-Earth, the world’s first diaper with biodegradable nonwovens technology, developed in collaboration with Avgol Industries, which incorporates Polymateria’s biotransformation technology. Through this innovation, 75% of the diaper components by weight are biodegradable, allowing key materials to safely return to nature within two years—a significant achievement compared to the ~500 years that conventional diapers require to degrade, Johari says.

“Looking ahead, I believe environmental sustainability will remain a key driver of our innovative roadmap,” he adds. “We will continue to explore advanced materials, responsible manufacturing practices and technology partnerships that further reduce environmental impact while maintaining the safety, comfort and performance standards our consumers expect.”

Johari says that the absorbent hygiene industry is undergoing a significant transformation globally, particularly in emerging markets like India. Growth is being driven by increasing awareness around hygiene, aging populations, rising education and disposable incomes and the expansion of healthcare and caregiving services.

“In India, the adult incontinence category is witnessing strong growth as awareness improves and the stigma around discussing incontinence continues to decline, yet awareness and education remain key challenges,” he explains. “As an industry, we must continue working toward normalizing conversations around hygiene and ensuring that high-quality products are accessible to those who need them.”

In the coming years, the company’s strategic priorities focus on expanding market access, strengthening manufacturing capabilities and continuing investment in product innovation.

“As the hygiene sector continues to evolve, we remain committed to developing products that enhance comfort, dignity and quality of life for users,” Johari says. “At the same time, we are actively exploring new technologies and sustainable solutions that will shape the global future of hygiene care.”
