Your Bio Transition, Powered by Sugarcane
The personal hygiene industry’s sustainability transition is already underway. Brands have been making the switch, one material at a time plant-based films, sustainable pulp, and beyond. As consumer awareness grows and GHG reduction targets tighten, the pressure to transition to more sustainable inputs has never been greater. But what about spandex? Until now, there has been no bio-based spandex option that delivers on both performance and supply reliability.
Hyosung TNC is changing that. Having commenced bio-based BDO production at its Vietnam facility in late March 2026, Hyosung TNC has established the world’s first vertically integrated value chain from bio-based BDO to bio-based spandex. The bio-BDO facility has an annual production capacity of up to 50,000 tons, with the potential to scale up to 200,000 tons per year ensuring the reliable supply brands need to commit to bio-based materials at scale. The solution the industry has long been waiting for is now a reality. Hyosung TNC’s regen™ BIO Spandex is set to begin commercial production in Q3 2026.
Brands are already moving. regen™ BIO Spandex is the defining piece that completes the story. Consumers have changed; bio-based, nature-derived materials have become the new benchmark for premium. When a brand can say “this material comes from sugarcane,” that’s no longer just an environmental claim. That’s a reason consumers choose. And regen™ BIO Spandex can be visually identified through its distinctive color, making a brand’s commitment to sustainability visible throughout the supply chain.
The sugarcane feedstock is verified under the VIVE Program. regen™ BIO Spandex delivers the same properties as conventional CREORA® spandex, enabling a seamless transition without compromising performance or requiring process changes. Hyosung TNC has been a leading supplier to the personal hygiene industry since the launch of CREORA® Spandex in 1992, with a heritage of performance that now extends into the bio-based era. Beyond regen™ BIO, Hyosung TNC offers a full portfolio of CREORA® spandex solutions purpose-built for the personal hygiene market from superior fit and leak prevention to comfort and recovery.
“We have consistently heard from customers about the need for a bio-based stretch solution. Now, we are able to offer not only the performance they expect, but also a story that brands can speak directly to their consumers,” said Scott Blackadar, Hyosung TNC Corporation Personal Hygiene Global Leader
Hyosung TNC invites you to visit booth 6K26 at CIDPEX 2026 (April 15–17, Nanjing) and booth 1570 at INDEX 2026 (May 19–22, Geneva, Switzerland) to learn more about regen™ BIO Spandex and its full range of solutions for the personal hygiene market.
