A patterned fibrous substrate comprising a plurality of individual fibers, a first region, and a second region; wherein the first region is visually discernable from the second region; wherein a plurality of individual fibers disposed in the first region have a first cross-sectional shape, wherein a plurality of individual fibers disposed in the second region have a second cross-sectional shape; wherein the first cross-sectional shape is different than the second cross-sectional shape; wherein the first region has a first region fluid permeability score (PS1), according to the Fluid Permeability Test Method; wherein the second region has a second region fluid permeability score (PS2), according to the Fluid Permeability Test Method; wherein the first region fluid permeability score (PS1) is different than the second region fluid permeability score (PS2): and wherein the first region fluid permeability score (PS1) and the second region fluid permeability score (PS2) are both greater than 5 Darcy; wherein the first region has a first region opacity, according to the Opacity Test Method, wherein the second region has a second region opacity, according to the Opacity Test Method, and wherein a difference between the first region opacity and the second region opacity is between about 5% and 60%, according to the Opacity Test Method.
