Here’s your weekly recap—the most-viewed news stories on our site for the week ended May 16, 2026.
Kruger Inc. announced a $333 million investment, marking its entry into the nonwovens sector and advancing its long-term portfolio diversification strategy. This new division will focus on manufacturing some of the industry’s most sustainable materials for a broad range of wipe applications. Central to this major project is the installation of the first production line of its kind in Canada, to be built on Île-de-la-Potherie in Trois-Rivières, adjacent to Kruger’s Wayagamack paper mill, with commissioning scheduled for 2028.
Meanwhile, Yuhan-Kimberly, a joint venture between Korea’s Yuhan Corporation and U.S. based Kimberly-Clark, has developed the world’s first biodegradable and reusable nonwoven paper towel made with amorphous PHA. Now available in South Korea, the Kleenex Biodegradable Reusable Dishtowel features CJ Biomaterials’ proprietary PHACT A1000P technology. This new consumer product is the result of the partnership between CJ Biomaterials and Yuhan-Kimberly that began in 2022 focusing on the development of eco-friendly products that accelerate the use of sustainable materials.
