Here’s your weekly recap—the most-viewed news stories on our site for the week ended October 18, 2025.

Ahlstrom has introduced GreenPod Home, a single-use coffee pod that has received the official OK compost HOME certification from TÜV Austria.  The certification confirms that GreenPod Home range can break down and biodegrade in domestic conditions, leaving no toxic residues or persistent microplastics behind. It enables converters and brand owners to develop GreenPod solutions that consumers can compost at home.

Meanwhile, Freudenberg Performance Materials has created a 100% bio-based PLA/wood pulp material made via a wetlaid process without the use of chemical binders. These materials combine the benefits of both PLA and wood pulp to address the needs of specific segments within plant propagation systems, packaging, filtration, apparel and healthcare.
