Purchase will strengthen the company's BWF CoilTec division

BWF Protec, located in Hof, Bavaria/Germany, will take over the technical needle felt business of the Swiss company Fissco AG on January 1, 2026. As part of the succession plan for long-time owner Niklaus Sägesser, this acquisition will enable BWF Protec to strengthen its “BWF CoilTec” division in the field of brake felts (coil felts) for steel service centers.
“We are delighted to be able to continue Fissco AG’s needle felt business. Our aim is to maintain the usual high quality while also providing new impetus. Trust, reliability and customer focus are our top priorities,” says Hannes Osburg, who played a key role in implementing the new qualities.
The Swiss textile company is withdrawing from the market due to the imminent retirement of its owner, Niklaus Sägesser, and the lack of an internal successor. “In BWF Protec, we have deliberately chosen a partner that not only ensures production quality but also shares the values and philosophy of Fissco AG,” says Sägesser.
The needle felt products will continue to be manufactured at BWF Protec according to proven Fissco-recipes, guaranteeing a smooth transition without any testing. The qualities are already in use by customers.
The BWF Protec portfolio is thus being expanded to include additional specialties from Fissco AG, while customers benefit from the expanded innovative strength, technical expertise and global sales structure of BWF Protec.
