Americhem Inc., a global provider of color and additive solutions for synthetic fibers, has added several key staff members to its worldwide nonwovens team, increasing access to Americhem products and solutions for the nonwovens industry.

“We’re happy to add these new positions to our global team,” comments Robert Baldy, Americhem’s market manager for nonwovens. “We’re now better equipped than ever to serve the needs of customers in the nonwovens industry in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.”

Kam Lui has joined Americhem as development specialist for nonwovens. He brings more than 20 years of technical experience in the polymer processing industry and will work closely with the development and commercial teams located at the company’s Dalton, GA, plant. He has a degree in chemical engineering from SUNY in Buffalo, NY, and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Northwestern University.

Also based at the Georgia plant is Greg Kern, who has taken on the role of account manager for nonwovens. Kern has many years of experience in the polymer industry, most recently serving as market development and account manager with OMNOVA Solutions. He also worked for Shell Chemical Company in sales and product development for PET and PTT polyester polymers and earned a chemical engineering degree from Purdue University. Kern will work closely with customers to develop products that create value through technical innovations.

The investment Americhem is making in the nonwovens industry is not limited to personnel. This year, the company’s synthetic fibers business invested in two new custom-made high speed spinning lines at its Concord, NC, and Dalton, GA, plants. Global capabilities for nonwovens and synthetic fibers include 11 dedicated spin lines throughout Americhem’s global plant network and a spunbonded fabric pilot line dedicated to the nonwovens industry at the Georgia plant.
