Media address some of the most urgent drinking-water challenges
Ahlstrom, a global leader in fiber-based specialty materials, has introduced an enhanced water-filtration material range based on its patented Disruptor technology. These next-generation water-filtration materials are designed to address some of the most urgent drinking-water challenges facing consumers, municipalities, and the water industry today.
Ahlstrom’s new water-filtration media is designed to reduce the concentrations of PFAS* substances to as little as 5 parts per trillion (ppt) in tests** conducted with a challenge concentration based on the 95th percentile of the UCMR 5 survey data.
In addition to advanced PFAS* reduction, the new media delivers high chlorine removal while maintaining a high flow rate. This combination ensures efficient, long-lasting filtration performance without compromising water pressure or usability–key considerations for both residential and commercial drinking water applications.
Engineered specifically for gravity-flow drinking water systems, the media is currently undergoing NSF 42 review and is expected to be compliant with NSF 42 upon completion. Its multifunctional design enables simultaneous capture of biological contaminants and reduction of PFAS* offering an efficient approach for filtering drinking water.
The Disruptor filter material range is compatible with a wide variety of filter housings and system designs, making it a flexible solution across numerous applications. It is particularly well-suited for:
“Being able to achieve PFAS* levels as low as 5 ppt**, without compromising flow rates or chlorine removal efficiency, marks a major advance in drinking water,” says Clas Läck, Head of Liquid Filtration. “Building on our existing Disruptor® platform allows us to explore the full capabilities of this innovative technology.”
The expansion of the Disruptor platform highlights Ahlstrom’s continued leadership in advancing high-performance, fiber-based materials for diverse filtration applications.
