Zuiko Completing R&D Center

Facility to showcase converting concepts and pilot cotton spunlaced nonwovens

Zuiko’s investment in a research and development center at its facility in Naka, Japan is nearly complete. The center will feature new converting machine concepts and test other innovative processes. The site will also house specialized equipment for small scale production of new experimental cotton spunlaced nonwovens.

Zuiko expanded beyond its traditional business, hygiene machinery manufacturing, in 2024 when it acquired Teimen Corporation, a producer of cotton-based products, through its newly formed subsidiary Cotex.

Through the acquisition, Zuiko is adding value to hygiene products by using its converting expertise to expand the function of cotton in areas both within and beyond the hygiene market. The company’s third medium-term management plan, which spans 2023-2026, states an intention to expand into new business areas where it can use its existing technologies and know-how. As a maker of hygiene machinery, Zuiko has designed advanced converting machines and developed processing technologies that add value to products such as disposable diapers and feminine napkins. .
