Ramder Nonwovens’ roots date back to 1979, when its founder Vedat Özbuluk began producing PVC injection machines and injection sport shoes. In 2011, this business ceased manufacturing, and Ramder Nonwovens was established.
In 2012, the company began synthetic leather manufacturing in a 12,000 square meter facility. Four years later, it expanded into manufacturing crosslapper spunlace nonwovens to address a supply shortage in spunlace used under artificial leather, according to Hakan Özbuluk, general manager. After witnessing growth in the wipes and medical markets, the company further strengthened its manufacturing by adding a parallel spunlace nonwoven manufacturing line in 2023. As a result of these expansions, the company operates in a 25,000 square meter facility with plans to continue investment.
Ramder’s crosslapper line produces 400 tons of spunlace nonwovens per month, in weights ranging from 40gsm to 200gsm and widths from 50cm to 320cm. This line can produce materials using polyester, viscose, bico and polypropylene fibers. Its main applications include synthetic leather bases (PVC leather substrates, PU leather coagulation and lamination), automotive uses (interior surfaces, interior trims, seating, molded parts, trunk liners, headliners and secondary carpet backing) and specialty spunlace fabrics (acrylic binder, water repellent and fire-retardant products, among others).
Complementing these capabilities, Ramder’s parallel line manufactures 1000 tons of spunlace per month, with weights ranging from 35gsm to 100gsm and widths from 10cm to 320cm. It can process polyester, viscose, Tencel and bamboo fibers. Key applications include personal care wipes, home care wipes and medical products such as protective apparel, surgical gowns and bandages.
While the company currently anticipates growth in the wipes and medical sectors in the coming years, it is anticipating some contraction in the artificial leather and automotive sectors,Özbuluk explains.
To support ongoing market needs, Ramder strives to be on the cusp of innovation both in the lab and in the field. In the lab, its team of experienced engineers works with customers to add new properties to nonwoven fabrics that provide practical solutions. The company also follows market trends and is always in close contact with its customers for R&D activities.
“What truly sets us apart from our competitors is our commitment to customer satisfaction and the way we deliver this by combining technology with personalized consulting,” says Özbuluk. “Our key difference lies in our ability to blend traditional quality with cutting-edge technology, offering a unique and intelligent approach to tradition.”
Looking ahead, Özbuluk believes the nonwovens industry has a bright, innovation-driven future. “Innovative products, particularly in the wipes and medical sectors, are adding momentum to the nonwovens industry, and we anticipate this will continue,” he concludes.
