Beijing Dayuan Nonwoven Fabric Co., signed an agreement to purchase five 4.2 meter dual-carded, microfiber through-air nonwovens lines from Refano (Suzhou) Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. in Beijing. The line will be able to make 20,000 tons of customized through-air nonwovens per year.

Based in Beijing, China, Beijing, Dayuan operates four plants in China in Tianjin, Suzhou, Yangzhou and Changshu but plans to close the Changshu site sometime next year. The new lines are housed in the Yangzhou and Tiangin sites.

According to executives, growing demand for soft materials in hygiene items has increased the use of air through bonded materials in topsheets, backsheets and sanitary napkins, particularly in the high-tier segments.

As these new lines come onstream, Beijing, Dayuan plans to phase out some of its older machinery.
