Cotton Incorporated, Cary, NC, has introduced a new seal specific to nonwoven products with the release of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Cotton Enhanced baby wipes. Available on shelves beginning in August, the wipes are the first nonwoven product to feature 15% cotton in this type of product. “Cotton Incorporated is very proud to be a part of a new generation of nonwovens that bring the benefits of cotton to consumers. The new Cotton Enhanced seal allows consumers to easily identify a brand they trust with real cotton content,” says Janet O’Regan, manager, nonwovens product marketing, Cotton Incorporated. Cheryl Moran, category director, baby wipes, Nice-Pak Products, the Orangeburg, NY-based supplier of the wipes, added, “The addition of cotton to the baby wipe provides a higher level of softness and durability. The Costco shopper trusts the Kirkland Signature brand to deliver premium products. This new product takes baby wipes to a premium level.” The wipes are based on a new cotton enhanced material produced by leading roll goods producer Polymer Group. The company is using the advanced fabric formation capabilities of its Apex technology to impart a three-dimensional image into the material that provides enhanced cleaning performance compared to traditional products. “Our Apex technology is well suited for handling cotton because it enhances the performance attributes of the fiber,” offered Mike Disotelle, senior director North American consumer and specialty wipes, PGI. The Kirkland Signature wipe is the same extra-large size as its current baby wipes but has been upgraded to an eight-pack of 88 wipes each with three-dimensional graphics that are designed to provide better clean-up power.
